Winners of Gold Medal Wine twin-packs

Winners of Gold Wine Packs

Congratulations to the winners of our recent Gold Medal Twin Packs of wine.

These entrants were judged for their creative picks of which Gold Medal Winning wines they thought would take out the 2011 Air New Zealand Champion Wine of the Show.

G Sareczky of Auckland chose the Villa Maria Single Vineyard Keltern Hawke's Bay Chardonnay 2010, which actually was awarded the Champion Wine of the Show trophy on the night. They thought the wine should wine as it was a stunning example of new world Chardonnay

Whangarei's, L Jackson, chose the Distant Land Marlborough Gewurztraminer with her "Girls with Stamina" comment.

C Walkinshaw of Cromwell chose the 8 Ranges Central Otago Pinot Rosé as it is a "versatile, light and classy wine which complements the best of cuisine in any environment".

R Carter from Papamoa had a great story behind his choice of the Mud House Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010. "I love my mother-in-law's cooking. Honestly, it's fantastic. But if push came to shove and it was a contest between the unbelievably good Mud House Central Otago Pinot Noir 2010 and her signature pavlova, I may well be in for many years of family anguish. It's that good." We hope you share your prize with your mother in-law!

Auckland entrant, J Rennie, is a big fan of Central Otago Pinot Noir and chose the Brennan Gibbston Central Otago Pinot Noir to win.

S Goodall of Wellington chose the Two Degrees Central Otago Pinot Noir 2009 saying that "there are 2 degrees of separation between kiwis and when you add a few drops of pinot noir there is no separation at all".

Thanks to everyone who entered the competition and congratulations to our winners. We hope you enjoy your twin packs of Gold Medal winning wine for your efforts.
